Dadaya High School wins 35 gold medals

On 8 February 2024, the Dadaya High School athletics team made headlines as they dominated the Zonal competitions held at Mukwidzi Secondary School. The event, organized by NASH, saw five schools competing for the top spot. These included Dadaya High School, Mukwidzi Secondary School, Mpumelelo Secondary School, Ture Secondary, and Muchingwe Secondary School.

It was a day filled with excitement and fierce competition as the athletes from each school gave their all on the track. However, it was Dadaya High School that emerged victorious, taking the top position and scooping an impressive 35 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals. Mukwidzi Secondary School came in second place with 20 gold medals, a commendable achievement.

The Dadaya High School team was unstoppable as they dominated in various categories. In the under 15 boys 100m race, Tonganai Museva took home the gold medal. Tofara Moyo, on the other hand, claimed the top spot in the under 17 boys 100m race. Meluleki Ncube proved to be the fastest in the under 20 boys 100m race, earning himself a gold medal.

The under 17 girls 200m race was won by Mitchell Mutepere, while Progress Gwenhamo, known as ‘Zvoda’ by his teammates, took home the gold in the under 17 boys 200m race. Anopa Kayeruza, nicknamed ‘Bolt’ for his lightning speed, claimed victory in the under 20 boys 200m race.

The Dadaya High School team also dominated in the relay races. In the under 17 girls 4 by 100m relay, the team consisting of Shelly Mututuvari, Mitchell Mutepere, Alphin Ncube, and Carren Phiri, known as ‘Cazabella,’ took home the gold medal. The under 17 boys 4 by 100m relay was won by the team of Leeroy Masuku, Tofara Moyo, Progress Gwenhamo, and Craig Mwanga, nicknamed ‘Likwa,’ ‘Toolbar,’ ‘The Flash,’ respectively.

The team members of Dadaya High School were ecstatic about their achievements and could not contain their joy as they lifted their trophies high in celebration. The school’s principal, Mr. Chirume, expressed his pride and congratulated the team on their outstanding performance. He also commended the coaches for their dedication and hard work in preparing the athletes for the competition.
